Checking out the classic wood furniture of Sam Maloof usually means a trip to any of the major museums that hold the work of the California craftsman — from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

Or you can head to Von Wening Art in Palm Desert where a small collection of pieces from the Maloof workshop in Alta Loma is now on view, and you can sit in one of Sam's iconic rocking chairs, all warm, hand-finished wood and graceful curves.
